Q2 Mod 3

 This week I worked another full 40 hours bringing this quarter total to 120 and combined to 480 hours. 


I need to start writing down what I did the day I did it as I already forgot some of the things I did this week. One thing that I do remember is that there was a ticket to install the spanish language pack for over 26 computers. Now this was challenging as the requester just assumed that I was able to do it no issues. One thing was I did not have any of the computers nor no who the students are so I had to work with the Libary tech and our MLL teacher to get all the studnets computers. Another weird thing was that they had a 'priority' list and a 'if time allows' list. So what does that mean? Do they need the language pack or dont they? You would thing if they are on the list they need it and not oh we may or may help them kind of deal. 

Then came the pain of trying to get the language packs installed. You would think oh let me open powershell as admin and do 'install-language es-mx' and we should be good, but no. It fails everytime. So then I did a bunch of troublshooting and had to do the installs 3 differetnt ways depending on the computer. 


Option 1: Auto pilot computers and Windows 11, go in as the student, go to langagues and install the language pack through the GUI and that works. Some reason as admin or my user its greyed out and wont let me. 

Option 2: Auto pilot and Windows 10, go in as admin, go into powershell as admin and use the command line to install. Then go back as the student and apply the language pack to that profile.

Option 3: Non Auto pilot normal doimain joined computers, nothing worked. My only thought after was to reinstall windows on all of them. I might as well upgraded all of them to Windows 11 while I was at it. I installed windows, added the language pack via the command line no issue, did the updates and installed drivers. Then I re-joined the domain and applied the language pack and it worked that way. 


After all of that I was quite annoyed. I am wrapping up two of them as im writting this. Ealier in the week, I assisted teachers with desk phones not working, and sending back dell laptops for infinate boot loop. I could not re-install the operating system as it would crash trying to load in and the drive are soldered onto the motherbord so changing the drive was also out of the option. Its weird as I;ve had over 8 with the same exact issue all the 3140 models with the non removable drives. I had asked the Dell rep if they could let me know how they fix the issue so I can do this my self in the feature. 

Next week I expect to get back some of those dells and hopfully see what the fix was. Becides that nothing is planned.

Module 10 Progress Report

I worked 40 hours this week, bringing my total hours for the quarter to 360. This week was packed with tasks, and honestly, it’s hard to keep track of everything I did. There’s never really a set list of things to tackle — issues pop up randomly, and I handle whatever comes my way. I started the week with 28 more laptops that needed either the DRC testing software reinstalled, Windows updates, or a full reset. After that, I helped a teacher at the other high school who was having Wi-Fi issues. I suggested using a USB-to-Ethernet adapter to hardwire her computer for a more stable connection. She wasn’t a fan of that idea since she wanted to keep using her external keyboard and didn’t want to be "tethered." I explained that it was either this or continue dealing with Wi-Fi drops until we could figure out what’s going on in that room.
