Module 2 Progress Report
This week I worked another full 40 hours. This will only change if students have a day off, or there is a holiday / break. This brings my total hours for the quarter to 96 hours.
Last week we scheduled for a lift to come to the auditorium but the person in charge of bringing it was out that day, so we never got to take a look at the projector. I was also able to finish all the remaining laptops that needed repairs and send four of them off to Dell to be repaired under warranty.
During our team meeting, we discussed the possibility to get Extron training and to get certified to work with Extron equipment (install and program). After the meeting my boss had said that if I need any help working on a cert like A+, Network+, Security+ etc.. that he would find something for me to work on to help with the test and to get more experience.
Some issues that arose:
- Had two teachers not able to do any updates and computers were acting slow and time clocks were off.
- Clocks issues was due to our DC03 server being wonky so updates were applied and a reboot occurred, fixing the out of time issue for some staff.
- The two teachers were using Surface laptop 2's, and were still running windows 10 version 21h1 which is no longer supported by Microsoft. Windows update wont let you do anything now that it is out of date, so I had to manually download and force an update to windows 10 22h2. For one of the teachers I decided to upgrade to windows 11 and that fix various issues. Updating windows also seamed to solve their issues with projecting both wirelessly and with a cable.
- Fixed various student computers that would not turn on or said they had no battery.
- One seamed like the battery was bad as windows did not detect it and would not power on without an AC adaptor. Tried the battery in a different laptop and it works fine. Test with a known good battery and wouldn't recognize it. Unfortunate its not under warranty so it would be used for parts (screen, battery, case, etc.).
- Attempted to set up Apple iPad with Intune and Apple business manager.
- system admin wanted me to set up a new iPad for a student with an IEP. Was able to confirm that our account tokens are synced, the iPad was added to Intune and could be managed, but we can not push apps out as I get a licensing error. This would indicate that I need to go into Apple business manager but I do not have access to that and my system admin did not want to do it them self. So now I am stuck with the iPad till they decide they want to work on it or give me access to figure it out myself.
Next week we have off for the holiday, so I don't expect to have much planed. I do expect to get several Laptops back from Dell so I will work on those and re configure them and make sure they are ready to hand back out to students.
